Blue Line Taxis was established in 1958 and based in Wallsend, covering primarily the North Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle upon Tyne as well as Gateshead areas. We have grown over the last 50 years into the largest and best private hire taxi firm in North Tyneside, Northumberland and Newcastle. With an impressive fleet of over 400 cars and an average number of 70,000 customers each week Blueline is well established taxi and private hire transport company.

Our History
Blue Line Taxis was founded in 1958, as a one car operation, by Colin and Audrey Shanks from their home on Wooley Street, Wallsend.
“Blue Line Taxis was named after our very first taxi which was white with a blue line along the length of the vehicle!”
Colin and Audrey moved the business to Sycamore Street in 1961 where it remains and operates today. In 1985, Colin purchased an old potato yard on Sycamore Street and opened up our garage services. Today the company is still a family run business between Colin and Audrey’s children Jane, Paul and Ian.
